The special session on Knowledge Engineering in Multi Robot Systems is
part of the KES'2007
conference. Its focus is on the proposal of innovative information
processing
techniques for Multi Robot Systems, as well as innovative applications
of them. You are welcomed to join
us
in the Italian paradisiac location of the conference to discuss the
state of the
art
and recent advances in this exciting research field.
The session is being chaired by
Manuel Graña,
Universidad
Pais Vasco, Spain
Richard Duro, Universidad de A
Coruña, Spain
Knowledge Engineering in Multi Robot Systems includes
several
and diverse kinds of information processing methods, algorithms and
supporting
software and hardware resources for Multi Robot Systems. A distinctive
feature of Multi Robot Systems is their ability to accomplish tasks
that can not be performed by a single robot, or to perform them with
improved efficiency, robustness and ability to recover from failures.
The main areas of research and development of innovative algorithms are
the definition of coordination and cooperation models for the
achievement of imposed tasks, the design of ways to integrate sensing
and exploration modes to obtain global information and to share world
models, the design of decentralized control architectures that reach
the levels of robustness and adaptation to changing unstructured
environments required.
The following is a non exhaustive list of
topics
that may be addressed by prospective authors:
Probabilistic Models of Sensing and Control
Neural Networks and Evolutionary Algorithms.
Applications of Multi Robot Systems
SLAM for Multi Robot Systems
Visual servoing for Multi Robot Systems
Snakes
PolyMorphic robots
Design of elementary robot modules
New sensing devices
The conference proceedings will be published and distributed by
Springer-Verlag
in
Lecture
Notes in AI as part of the LNCS/LNAI
series.
Please refer to the LNCS Authors Instructions web site for directions on the Final Paper Format which must be strictly followed for all papers that are to appear in the proceedings.
Please note that papers should be no longer than eight pages in LNCS format. Papers longer than this will be subject to an additional page charge. All oral and poster papers must be presented by one of the authors who must register and pay fees.
The Editors of the Proceedings are to be announced.
Papers for this session must be submitted through the conference site server, copies can be sent by e-mail to Manuel Graña
All oral and poster papers must be presented by one of the authors who must register for the conference and pay the fee.
Extended versions of selected papers will be considered for publication in the KES Journal (International Journal of Knowledge-Based and Intelligent Engineering Systems) published by IOS Press.
To ensure that the camera ready papers reach the organizing site by
May,
1, 2007 the schedule that we will follow is:
* Papers to be submitted to the session chair by: 1 March 2007
* Notification of acceptance: 1 April 2007
* Camera ready papers to be received by the session chair by: 19 April
2007
All presenting authors (both General and Special/Invited Sessions) must register with payment by 1 May 2007, for their papers to appear in the proceedings.
Note: All deadlines are provisional at this stage and subject to change.
