Research

I'm currently working in pattern recognition, combination of classifiers, bayesian networks, nearest neighbours classifiers and all this stuff. Anyway, everything related to machine learning and how to infuse wisdom more than knowledge into a machine (or some human beings) may fit in my current research.

Personal - Academic

I was born in 1970 in Errenteria, Basque Country, in the North of Spain, near the French border.

I left High School in 1988 and then I started the five courses of the Bachelor degree in Computer Science in Donostia/San Sebastián.

I got my Computer Science degree in the summer of 1993. After two years of postgraduate courses I spent six years working as a postman. Then another year travelling a bit and trying to learn English. You could see this goal has not been wholy fulfilled. And some months ago I returned to research. I hope that for several years.

Hobbies

Chess has been my main hobby for a lot of years. I won twice the Basque Country Youth Chess Championship, but after that my chess skills have been fading steadily.

I love trekking (but not climbing, I'm afraid of the heights). Take a look of these places: Aizkorri, Txindoki, Bianditz, Aiako Harriak, Saioa, Ordesa.

Reading. Some of the authors I like: Borges, Lem, Kafka, Lovecraft, García Márquez, Hesse, Poe, Cortázar, Dostoievsky.

Travelling. I like to practice backpacking, but I'm afraid I'm growing old... anyway I have travelled a bit around Western Europe, with a short trip to Chile. If you know of a cheap round-the-world ticket let me know.
