Frontiers in nutrition and obesity: from preventive functional foods to personalized nutrigenomics (C)

Aims:
This course attempts to approach the most recent advances concerning the concepts of Healthy and optimal Nutrition, with emphasis in those aspects related to the obesity and associated diseases. The program will cover topics on the interactions between Nutrition in the Health, including the new dietary recommendations and intakes of reference for energy and nutrients and their role in the prevention of diseases. The functional food definition and examples of ingredients applied successfully by the food industry are part of the contents of the Course, including a round table. The causes and consequences of the overweight/obesity and the mechanisms involved in the regulation of the body fat accumulation through the control of the appetite, the energy efficiency as well as current investigations on personalized diets based on nutrigenomic criteria are also included in this summer course.
