Broad-Band Dielectric Spectrometer



                        By means of this single spectrometer the dielectric response of the material is investigated over extremelly broad frequency and temperature ranges with the best accuracy.

INSTRUMENT CHARACTERISTICS

Impedance Analyzer: High-resolution dielectric/impedance analyzer ALPHA-S Novocontrol

  • Frequency range: 1e-3 - 1e7 Hz

  • Sensitivity better than tan(delta) ~1e-5


Temperature Control: Nitrogen-jet stream Quatro Cryosystem Novocontrol

  • Temperature range: 100 - 600 K

  • Temperature stability better than ± 0.01 K


Samples: Solids (typically a film) and Liquids

  • A parallel plate capacitor of about 30 mm diameter and 0.1 mm thickness is formed with the sample by using two gold-plated electrodes (see below) in order to have a capacity in the range of 100 pF (optimum). The so formed capacitor is located in the alpha active cell.
