High-Pressure Dielectric Spectrometer


This spectrometer allow to perform dielectric measurements over a very broad frequency range and a limited temperature range varying the sample pressure. Using pressure as a variable allows to investigate the direct effect of sample density variations in its dielectric response. (see an example below)

Impedance Analyzer: High-resolution dielectric/impedance analyzer ALPHA-N by Novocontrol

  • Frequency range: 1e-2 - 1e6 Hz

  • Sensitivity better than tan(delta) ~1e-4


Pressure Cell: Concept 100 by Novocontrol

  • Pressure range: 0.1 - 300 MPa

  • Pressure stability better than ± 2 MPa

Temperature Control: Novotherm system by Novocontrol

  • Temperature range: 10 - 320 K

  • Temperature stability better than ± 0.1 K


Samples: Solids and viscous liquids

  • A parallel plate capacitor of about 30 mm diameter and 0.1 mm thickness, formed with the sample by using two gold-plated electrodes is located inside the silicon oil pressurizing medium.
